The Winemaker's Blog

Thank-you!

Adam Cawrse - Thursday, March 05, 2009
I would like to give a big THANKS to everyone who came out this past weekend.  It was great to meet so many of you and it was exciting for us to finally invite you in.  I hope you enjoyed our wines and I look forward to releasing more in our tasting room soon.  I received quite a few inquiries about when the chardonnay, "sweet reds," and others will be available.  I don't have an exact answer at this time, but I think we'll have some more varieties (starting with a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon) within a few weeks.  Stay tuned for more info.  I will be posting available wines to the "Our WIne" section as they are released.

As a reminder, we are now open from 3-10PM every Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.

In baby news, my wife is 39 weeks pregnant, so the baby should arrive any day now.  As impatient as I've been for his birth, I was thankful that we were able to get the winery open first. :-)

There's more to come!  Check back soon!

God Bless,
Adam

We're opening this Friday

Adam Cawrse - Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Hello everyone!  We've received many phone calls and emails wanting to know when we're opening.  I'm here to tell you, the answer is Friday, February 27th. :-)  We'll be open from 3-10PM.  Starting the 27th, we'll assume our normal business hours of Thursday-Sat, 3-10PM.

We are excited to open our doors to you.  However, we would like everyone to know that we will have limited offerings in the early stages of our opening.  Although our wine list will expand in the coming months, we only have three wines to offer at this time.  These include:  Old Vine Zinfandel (dry red), Cayuga White (semi-sweet white), and Niagara (sweet white).  I think you'll be pleased with all three.

Also, while we plan to offer larger "food items" down the road, such as paninis and soup, our kitchen offerings will be limited for now.  The available items will include cheese plates and baked ciabatta bread with olive oil.  We also have coffee, juice, and pop.

We practiced using our registers this past weekend and we're hoping things go as smoothly as possible.  Please bear with us as we continue to learn our way around the computers.

We look forward to meeting many of you this weekend.

God Bless,

Adam

Opening

Hey Everyone!

Unfortunately, the "Super Souper" weekends have been cancelled.  However, we are still targeting the end of this month for our opening (hopefully the 27th).  If everything is a "GO" and we decide we will open the doors by the 27th, I will post the official opening date/hours to the website by no later than February 25th.

STAY TUNED!  Thanks!

God Bless,
Adam

Super Souper Days

Adam Cawrse - Sunday, January 18, 2009
Hello everyone!  I just wanted to let you all know that we are planning on being open by February 27th, 2009.  The Shores and Islands Wine Trail (formerly known as the "Wing Watch and WIne Trail") will be having "Super Souper Days."  Information and tickets are available at www.ohiowines.org.  You don't need to buy tickets to visit the winery during these weekends, but we are targeting this event for opening.  We will probably be limited to 5 or 6 wine offerings at this time, but we'll be offering more varieties as we remain open.

Again, I thank everyone for their interest in Paper Moon and we're excited to meet you all soon!

God Bless,
Adam

Happy New Year!

Adam Cawrse - Wednesday, January 07, 2009
I don't know about you, but 2008 went by in a flash for my family.  I'm sure 2009 will be very similar as our calendar is quickly running out of room.  We have every intention of opening the winery by mid-February and we're working diligently to bring that goal to fruition.  Please forgive me for my lack of blogging as I have been kept busy with everything going on around here.

Logistically speaking, our corks have arrived and we have bottles galore.  Our labels have also been sent to the printer, so the bottling line should be up and running very soon.  I am pleased with our 1st vintage and am excited for you all to try our wines.

In other exciting news, my wife and I are having a baby in March.  He (yes, we already found out) will be our first and his name will be Noah.  My dad is already vying for his future career, as an employee in the family business.  I think it will be a little while before Noah is picking grapes or running the tractor.  :-)  So, we'll be opening a new business in February and we'll have our first child in March...  2010 will be here before we know it, but I'll try not to rush through 2009.  :-p

God bless you this new year!

Hello!

Adam Cawrse - Monday, December 15, 2008
Thank-you for visiting my blog!  Starting a winery is no simple task and we are working hard to open our doors to you soon.

Here's a brief update on our progress:
Our tanks are turned down to 26 degrees for cold stabilizing.  Today we received a truckload of bottles and we're expecting our corks to arrive in a couple weeks.  Our labels are in the process of being approved by the government and we should be sending them off to the printer in the next couple weeks.

What does all this mean?  The pieces of the puzzle are coming into place, but there shall be no wine before it is time!  We are anticipating an opening in 2009.  This will most likely fall in January or February.  We appreciate the interest we have received from the community and are excited to meet you all face to face.  I will update this blog often, so keep coming back to see how we're doing.  Feel free to email me at: adam@papermoonvineyards.com.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

God Bless,
Adam
